  • Announcement of Barents Spectacle 2022

The 18th Barents Spektakel international festival will take place from 23 to 27 February. The extensive festival programme will cover Kirkenes, Nickel, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk and St Petersburg, as well as the virtual space.

The theme of this year's festival is "Where do we go from here?  What does the future hold? A new golden age or an age of decadence? A belated reunion with loved ones or a false hope for a normal life? "Barents Spectacle 2022" borrows its theme from Martin Luther King's book on equality and social justice.  The festival continues the discourse opened last year on the "essentials" in culture, society and life in the North as a whole.

The Barents Spektakel events will take place in Nickel from 24 to 27 February.

✔️ On 24 and 25 February at the Second School Centre a "debate at the Cross Border Café" will take place, involving a live online link between Russian participants in the festival and participants from Kirkenes.

✔️ On 26 February, the Second School Centre will host a recreated talk show "Telebridge - New Era". The event will be organised between Nickel and Kirkenes in cooperation with Fridaymilk and Carl Christian Lane Sturmer.

✔️ Local events will be organised at the Second School Centre and Pasvik Nature Reserve on 27 February. And there will also be a cross-border sound event "Two Sides of the River" by Pavlo Grazhdansky and Tine Surel Lange.

➡️ "Barents Spectacle" can be attended online as a digital participant. More information about the festival can be found at: barentsspektakel.no
